  | 1. Start by going to the forum website. You can click on this link here. You don’t need to register or log in to view topics or download files. To post your own comments, create polls or surveys, etc., you will need to register. Click on the triangles to the left to expand each topic.

  | Registering to post to the forum

  | 2. You can browse the forum without being registered. If you wish to post, however, you will need to register. Click on the “register” link, as shown here:

  | 2a. You will see a window with terms and conditions. Please read, and if you agree, click on the upper of the three links at the bottom of the page, as shown here:

  | 3. Next you will see a form to be filled in:

  | 4. The mandatory fields should look like this once filled in:

  | 5. Scroll down a bit to the “signature” field. If you do not live in Westmount, please fill in this field as directed here:

  | 6. Scroll down to the bottom of the form. If you prefer French, select it from the dropdown list. Then click on the “submit” button as shown.

  | 7. You should receive an email message at the address that you entered, showing your username and password. It will also tell you that your account will remain inactive until it has been approved by the forum administrator (who happens to be the WMA president). This could take up to 24 hours. Once approved, you will receive another email to say that your account has been activated. If you do not get these emails, please email the president at president@wma-amw.org.

  | Logging in to the forum and navigating

  | 8. When you have received the “Account Activated” email, you will be able to log in. Again, go to the forum, but this time, click on the “login” link:

  | 9. Now enter your user name and password. If you are the only person using your computer, you can also click on the checkbox to log yourself in automatically each time you visit the WMA forum. Then click on the Log in button.

  | 10. You will now be at the forum index. The important thing here is to understand the terminology. A “forum” is a group of related “topics”, where “topic” refers to an entry or posting, with a particular subject line. Users can create new topics or edit topics that they have previously created; they can also respond to topics posted by other users. First, we will choose a particular forum by clicking on the name of that forum:

  | 11. Next, click on a topic to view it. While on thie list of topics for this forum, you can also click on the link “Watch this forum for new topics” if you want to receive an email whenever someone posts a new topic to this forum.

  | 12. To post a new topic, or to post a reply to the topic you are currently viewing, click the appropriate buttons, shown here. You can also create a reply which includes all or part of the current topic as a quote. Experiment with the various options for navigating. There is also a link near the bottom if you want to watch this topic for replies (ie receive an email whenever someone posts a reply to this topic).

  | 13. After clicking on a “newtopic” button, you will see the screen shown here. Follow the directions to create a posting. The process for posting a reply to an existing topic is similar.
